Shot in the Favela zooms in on the role television, film and the media have on the view both Brazilians and foreigners have on Rio de Janeiro's impoverished communities, known as favelas. The story comes as the city and the country experience massive transformations before the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympics—bringing benefits for some in the shantytowns while leaving others neglected.
